My acquaintance with Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ began after my symptoms recurred following my first endometriosis surgery. Although I was confident in his medical expertise, I was quite anxious about having to undergo a second surgery within a year due to the progression of my condition. With his accurate diagnosis and guidance, we planned and completed the surgery within just one week.

If this had been my first operation, I might not have been able to write with such certainty — but I truly did not expect such a comfortable recovery. To give specific examples: even the laparoscopy incisions were smaller, I stopped taking painkillers on the second day, and by the fourth day, I was traveling by car on vacation. Because of infections in my fallopian tubes, I was suddenly hospitalized. During the hospital stay before the surgery, I was very nervous since I had never had an operation before. I didn’t know what would be done or when, and although I had met Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ once before, I still felt uneasy.

I’m Demet, 42 years old. I had a chocolate cyst (endometrioma) that had been diagnosed 10 years ago. Dear Doctor,

After the age of 40, I learned about a condition called endometriosis — and the moment I did, I was overcome with panic, fear, depression, and countless questions.

Being a naturally meticulous person, I ended up visiting ten different doctors, only to realize that many of them knew less about the condition than I did.

I’m truly grateful for my cautious nature, because it eventually led me to Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ. Thank you, dear doctor, for patiently listening to my two-page-long notes and questions about my illness and for answering each one with care and clarity.

But above all, my deepest gratitude is for my surgery — it was truly life-changing.

My name is Ayşen Uygur, I am 25 years old.

Around mid-September, I suddenly started experiencing groin pain. The pain was so severe that I took painkillers every time it began, but after realizing it didn’t go away for days, I decided to see a doctor. After consultations and examinations with two different doctors, I was told that it would heal with medication, but my pain did not decrease at all.

After three difficult months, I met Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ, and I’m so glad I did. I was examined by him, and with his valuable insights and extensive experience, he informed me about the surgery. On December 21, my laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery was performed at a private hospital.

It’s been exactly a week since my surgery, and I came to the clinic with a smile on my face. As always, Ms. Selda greeted me cheerfully. I wanted to share this process briefly because I cannot thank Dr. Fatih Şendağ and his team enough.

Although I had surgery, after three painful months, thanks to Dr. Fatih Şendağ, I returned to my comfortable and happy life before the pain.

Before the surgery, I was very anxious and didn’t want to go through with it. I first visited Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ on September 28, but it took me until May to gather the courage to have the operation.

If I had known it would be such a comfortable and easy process, I wouldn’t have hesitated for so long. I was able to stand up on the very first day after surgery, with only mild pain, and within a week, I was feeling quite well.

I would like to thank my esteemed doctor, Prof. Dr. Fatih Şendağ, and Ms. Selda for performing my surgery and for their constant support. Throughout every stage of the process, Ms. Selda kept me informed and made me feel that I wasn’t alone.
