Although it takes a very short time, the gynecological examination causes excitement and tension in most women. These fears and concerns are at their peak, especially in patients who will be examined for the first time.
Gynecological examinations are important.
Regular gynecological examination is an indispensable element of health for every conscious woman.
It is extremely important that a sexually active woman without any complaints should be examined at least once a year. Thanks to these examinations, it is possible to diagnose many diseases, including cancer, at an early stage, and their treatment can be provided with very easy methods.
Medical histories (anamnesis) are carefully taken from couples who apply to our center due to infertility, and then gynecological examinations are performed. Since our couples are always considered as a whole, both men and women undergo a detailed physical examination.
What Does the Gynecological Examination Include?
In the gynecological examination, besides the examination of the female external genitalia, the vagina, cervix (cervix), uterus (womb) and adnexa (ovary and tubes) are evaluated, and the presence of any inflammation (for example, discharge) and the structure of the cervix are investigated.
The uterus and ovaries (ovaries) are evaluated with vaginal ultrasound; A smear (swab from the cervix) is taken. Uterine inner tissue (endometrium) and ovary measurements are made.
What is checked in urological examinations in men?
In the urological examination of the man, it is investigated whether the testicles are in the scrotum (skin sac in which the testicles are located) against the possibility of undescended testicles. Testicular volume and external genitalia structure are examined.
If the testicles are evaluated for varicocele (enlargement of the testicular veins) and after the urological examination, "scrotal Doppler ultrasound" is requested if necessary.
