What is Microinjection?

What is Microinjection?

In cases where there is a sperm problem, the ICSI (microinjection) method can be used to fertilize the egg. The only difference between in vitro fertilization and microinjection is the method of fertilization, while in the in vitro fertilization method, sperm and eggs are put together and fertilization is expected to occur spontaneously, while in the microinjection method, a single sperm is injected into each egg with microscopic catheters.

In microinjection treatment, in which fully mature eggs are used, a single sperm is injected into a mature single egg by means of a special microscope and micromanipulators. Injected eggs are placed in an incubator, which provides an environment similar to the mother's body environment in developed media to ensure embryo development.

What are Aspiration Techniques from Applications Used in IVF Treatment?

It means taking sperm from the male reproductive system, such as the epididymis and sperm duct. Sperm can also be obtained through biopsy taken from the testicles.

What is Assisted Hatching, One of the Genetic Applications Used in IVF Treatment?

Microsurgery may be done to help the embryo separate from the enveloping membrane (zona pellucida). This is called “nesting” and helps the embryo implant into the uterus. If the woman is over the age of 40, it is a more common method. Assisted nesting is also used if the woman has high FSH levels, i.e. low egg production and has had several failed IVF applications. Pre-implantation

What is Genetic Diagnosis from Genetic Applications Used in IVF Treatment?

The latest developments in genetics allow genetic examination of embryos developed in the laboratory with in vitro fertilization methods and the placement of selected healthy embryos in the womb of the mother before pregnancy occurs. This method is called PGD.

One or two embryo cells can be taken by micromanipulation during the first period and examined for gender and genetic disorders. Genetic testing is done within 24 hours, and if there is no abnormality in the embryo, it is transferred to the uterus.
